06.09.2022 Projects by Emma BARRETT Coffee break with our Sweden Projects Team We caught up with our local Projects team in Sweden to find out what's new and get an update on what is happening in their local market. What's changed over the last year with the Projects Team? The biggest change we see is in the local market. There is a stronger focus than ever before on solar shading. For some time now everyone is becoming more determined to make greener buildings and we know that smart technology can help to achieve this. We are involved in discussions with various project stakeholders, often including the building designers, about the benefits of adaptive shading technology, so they can get the most out of their solar protection. It can help to check several 'boxes' that are increasingly important – not only from a sustainability perspective but also making sure the occupants of a building are comfortable and productive. What types of projects are you currently working on? We always have quite a mixed portfolio of projects in different sectors, which is great as it keeps things really interesting! At the moment we are working on a few Government buildings as well as several hospitals, schools and of course offices, which is a very busy sector for us here in Sweden. We're fortunate because there is some really great architecture and innovative building design here, so some great projects to get involved with. What is your biggest challenge in (local market)? Today I would say it is getting us involved in the early stage of a building's design or renovation. Often adaptive shading control can be addressed quite late into the project process, meaning that it can bring some challenges for us and the building designers and contractors. Everyone, from the designers to the building users will get the full benefits and the best results from their adaptive shading when we are involved in early stage of the projects. The moment you’re most proud of as a team? We're always proud of the team and we recognize each other’s strengths and work together to be the best we can be and deliver great solutions. There is so much knowledge amongst us and each team member has a valuable role to play. What’s next in your local market? We see that adaptive solar shading is increasing in our market because of the benefits such as energy performance savings, and better indoor climate. We are also seeing an increase in buildings investing in animeo KNX solutions with Shadow Management. This shadow management tool is based on the 3D modelling of the building carried out by our team in advance, taking the following various factors into account: The building’s architecture, geographical location, the number and position of its windows, position of neighbouring buildings and the sun’s path relative to the building etc. As construction continues to grow in our cities and buildings are located in more crowded surroundings, this is a great tool to make sure you optimize the benefits you’re getting from your adaptive shading.
