Somfy has always promoted technologies that enable new benefits and an improved home experience. We enhance interoperability between our solutions and major home brands. The “So Open with Somfy” program illustrates this openness through the TaHoma smart home solution.Somfy technologies and those of our partners make it possible to upgrade your home installation free of constraints, making your life easier. You control everything from your app, both at home and remotely.
RTS (Radio Technology Somfy®) is Somfy's historic and proprietary radio protocol. This is the pioneer and a model for secure radio control of the home. This unidirectional protocol is the first and easy step to a connected home. This technology allows for quick installation without wiring, for a flexible and scalable operation.
Compatible with:
The io-homecontrol® radio protocol is a reliable and secure technology used in Europe. This is a reference for radio control of the home for Smart Home. It features exhaustive data feedback, meaning you can check the status of your home equipment (its real-time position) and receive confirmation of commands given. Tailored for remote control from a smartphone, it ensures a reliable, ultra secure radio transmission
io-homecontrol technology is scalable. You can add new equipment as your needs evolve and while respecting your budget. Most importantly, you don’t need to change your current installation.
The Zigbee protocol is the authority in wireless communication, used by Somfy in North America and Asia for smart homes. It provides data feedback so you can check the status of your equipment at all times. Somfy is a member of the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA).
Implementing Zigbee gives access to a robust mesh network, highly secured, and the universal language that allows smart objects to work together. For homeowners, Zigbee increases choice and flexibility, and the confidence that your products will work together. Zigbee technology is developed within CSA.
Thread solves the complexities of the IoT(Internet of Things), addressing challenges such as interoperability, security, low-power, and robustness requirements.
In the home, the goal is to make life easier by creating new experiences and reimagining old ones through a network of connected appliances, lights, temperature controls, security, and entertainment systems.
The Matter protocol will natively run-on Thread network layers. Thread is a technology developed within Thread Group.
Matter is a seal of approval that devices will work seamlessly together, today and tomorrow. By building upon Internet Protocol (IP), Matter will enable communication across smart home devices, mobile app and cloud services.
Matter makes it easier to build devices that are compatible with smart home and voice assistants. The first specification release of the Matter protocol will run on Wi-Fi and Thread network layers and will use Bluetooth Low Energy for commissioning. In a first step, Somfy’s io and Zigbee legacy products could be seamlessly used with Matter thanks to bridges. Matter technology is developed within CSA.
TaHoma®, Somfy’s smart home solution, is compatible with the EnOcean radio protocol for heating systems. Simply add a gateway or radio module.
TaHoma®, Somfy’s smart home solution, is compatible with the Z-Wave two-way radio protocol for lighting. Simply add a gateway or radio module.
Installation is trouble-free with no wiring required.
Using radio technology, your equipment communicates directly together in your smart home. They're centralised on a single remote control or home automation box so you can control them together, manage them from your mobile app, or automate them via sensors.
Keep an eye on your connected home and control your devices from anywhere in the world.
Easily add and combine products to complete your connected home set-up.
With io-homecontrol radio technology, you always receive a notification as to whether your command - e.g. to open your shutters - has been carried out and informing you of the current position of your products (e.g. open, closed, half-open, etc.).
Unlike io technology, RTS, first-generation radio technology, transmits in one direction only. Therefore, there is no notification or accurate reporting on the position of the products.
For both technologies, you can easily manage our motors with a remote control, a sensor or a switch that you can fix to the wall. With our TaHoma home automation solution, you can control your products via the TaHoma app from your smartphone, at any time and from anywhere in the world.
